10 REASONS WHY YOU SHOULD BE PART OF THE K-10 ASSOCIATION:

The not-for-profit K-10 Association, Inc. is a public/private partnership with 15 years of service
planning for and promoting quality business and residential development along the K-10 Corridor in
the cities of DeSoto, Eudora, Lawrence, Lenexa, Olathe and Overland Park. Investment in the K-10
Association, Inc. contributes to a range of efforts that further AMERICA’S SMART CORRIDOR.

1. Promote Quality Development – The Association prepared, promotes and monitors new
development along K-10 to ensure the highest quality design standards are carried out through the adherence to the K-10 Corridor Design Guidelines. Raising the standards for development has enhanced the appearance and value of development along the corridor.

2. Support Economic Development Efforts - The K-10 Association actively supports the efforts of the economic development councils and their staff in the five corridor cities actively recruiting new business.

3. Promote AMERICA’S SMART CORRIDOR – Since 1996, the corridor has promoted the attraction of high technology to the K-10 cities through the trademark AMERICA’S SMART CORRIDOR. The cities of the K-10 Corridor have increasingly targeted companies focused on the high tech and bioscience industries for the array of business parks along the corridor. The Association installed a monument sign at the gateway to the K-10 Corridor. Other monuments signs are planned along the corridor to inform visitors and residents of the uniqueness of the corridor’s communities.

5. Performs Special Projects – The K-10 Association takes on special planning projects to assist the cities and counties along K-10 in their planning efforts including the K-10 Corridor Technology Plan, Natural Areas Inventory, Corridor Design Guidelines, the K-10 Smart Bike Trail, promoting public transportation and the K-10 Corridor Plan and Update.  The Association works closely with KDOT in promoting the safety and aesthetic enhancements to the highway.

6. First Viewing of New Developments - Quarterly membership meetings are routinely held at new facilities and developments along the K-10 corridor to enable members to see projects up close and personal.

7. Promote Sunflower’s Redevelopment – More than 9,000 surplus acres in Johnson County are
planned for redevelopment to accommodate some of the more than 140,000 new residents of
Johnson County that are expected by 2020. The Association has led the efforts to transfer this
surplus property from federal control to the private sector for reuse.

8. E-Newsletters – The Association routinely distributes a bi-monthly newsletter alerting members to important development news and business trends along the K-10 Corridor.
